BUG OFF!

Wow, it's been awhile! Beautiful Spring is already here with Summer just around the corner! Unfortunately with the warmth comes bugs, many varieties of biting ones including my least favorite, the tick. Ticks seem to be pretty bad this year so here are some handy ideas to keep those nasty critters at bay!

Natural herb repellents work great and my favorite way to use them is in an oil, just a dab here and there on your clothes or even rub alittle in your hair. The herbs that I like to use are; Pennyroyal, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary. Tansy mixed with Elder leaves is good to keep fly's away. Taking garlic internally will deter bugs as they don't like the smell of your skin, but then again, you might not either! Cinnamon, Cloves, Lavender, Lemon Grass, Peppermint, Cedar, and Sage are also some good herbal oils to have on hand. You can make a mix of any of these to suit your sense of smell. Good luck and hope you stay bug free!

  2. I am just trying to perfect a concoction for my boys! Nasty Mosquito's around our little nest. The deer flies aren't so bad in town (where we live) but as soon as we're more rural it's terrible. I'm going to take your list with me the next time I go to the health food store (where I get herbs and essential oils). Hope you're well! :)

  3. Hi,
Yes we are all doing very well thanks! Remember if you put any essential oil on your skin to dilute it first with another carrier (base) oil to prevent any irritation to the skin.
Oh and one I forgot to mention is Citronella oil, that works great and you could also always add a few drops to water or oil that you warm up. I like to use a tea light candle, you light the candle underneath and put the oil in the top. It will put the fragrance throughout the room and smells great!
    Blessings!
